Canine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Meet Acorn!
Acorn is a female golden retriever that has received training in animal-assisted interventions for psychotherapy. She initially started off her training as a puppy in training for Guide Dogs of America in Sylmar, CA. While she excelled in her training, she sadly experiences motion sickness and therefore is not suitable to be a service or guide dog, however she is the most amazing pup! Acorn would love to support you in sessions while you do the hard work. She can simply just be in the room or she can provide you with all the love including deep pressure therapy, sitting in between your feet so you can pet her head, or even hear your biggest fears while giving you unconditional love.
Animal-Assisted Therapy has been shown to increase self-disclosure, feelings of safety, and decrease distress in therapy sessions.
Acorn is currently only available to attend in person sessions.
