  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy was developed by Marsha Linnehan in the 1990’s in order to treat individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder. It is comprised of four modules including Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. DBT therapists work from the ideas that opposite emotions can co-exist and teach skills in order to help clients identify emotions, cope with the discomfort of emotions, and how to advocate for their wants and needs. Many individuals with eating disorder struggle to regulate their emotions, tolerate distress, and advocate for what they need.
